We are truly blessed to have a wonderful young man on this trip with us, who is making a tremendous difference in what we are able to accomplish during our week here. His name is Kevin, and he is a phenomenal HVAC guy from Cleveland. Because hs has joined us, our teams have been able to complete heating and cooling for Royden & Lena's and Cliff & Nieta's homes. He is planning to work on Yolanda's HVAC so that her place can be completed before our team leaves the area on Saturday.
We wanted to share a story about how extraordinary he is. Today, he was working to complete the HVAC at Royden & Lena's, targeting a 2pm completion time. One he completed the system, he then borrowed our big yellow Ryder truck and got Denny, Dan P, and Barrie to help him LIFT a 5 ton airconditioning unit into the truck for delivery to Cliff's place. He stopped to buy a new appliance dolly to replace one that had been stolen overnight, then delivered and installed the AC unit so that there was an operational system by 6pm at Cliff & Nieta's.
He told his Uncle Denny that he would not leave until all three projects are complete. He has a 2.5 - 3 day project waiting for him at Yolanda's. He's going to start on that first thing in the morning. He has been starting his day before 6am every day, and working straight through to the end of the day.
We all agree that Kevin is the ONE person on this trip who cannot be substituted for by any one else. His skill and energy are so special, there is generally a shortage in this city of people with Kevin's skills. We are truly grateful to have him lend his hand to this remarkable ministry.
Tonight, Kevin was so tired that he was asleep before devotions started. God bless his rest, and we will be grateful for prayers to have God watch over him as he continues to do so much good in New Orleans.
